Gameindustry.biz is reporting that Infogrames is offering to buy out the remainder of Atari’s stock. The former video game king’s stock is so low that Infogrames is only offering $1.68 per share. Atari execs have never been known for making good decisions, but hopefully they’ll just bite the bullet and sell the company.

Good riddance Atari. Your history is potholed with fantastically bad business moves and colossal screwups. It takes a special kind of stupid to go from king to jester. At least now your one remaining useful piece of intellectual property (the Dragonball franchise) can have a chance to be something other than mediocre fighting games.
